Insurance Restrictions During Wildfires May Impact Closings

During major events such as wildfires or floods, insurance companies limit or stop issuing new home insurance policies for properties near the affected area. The guidelines on restrictions and distance and restrictions vary by company. Closing dates may be impacted if a buyer cannot secure insurance.

As there are currently numerous wildfires across the province, properties near those areas could be affected. If you have a buyer client who may be affected, advise them to contact their insurance providers to confirm coverage and/or determine their providers guidelines for these scenarios.

2025-2026 Committees

The new committee members for the 2025-2026 term have been selected by the respective committee chairs and approved by the Board of Directors. The full list of committee members is now available on the Commission's website.

Thank you to all who put their name forward to serve on a committee to contribute toward protecting the public interest.
