Ensuring HST Rate Reduction is Reflected in Forms
Important Dates Reminder

Ensuring HST Rate Reduction is Reflected in Forms

On April 1, 2025, the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) rate in Nova Scotia was reduced from 15% to 14%.

It has come to our attention that WebForms has incorrectly continued to auto auto-populate the previous 15% tax rate in Form 442: Change Order. NSAR, who administers WebForms, has been advised.

If you have used Form 442 through WebForms or any other electronic platform, and the wrong rate was used, you must prepare an amendment with the correct rate.

If you are going to use Form 442, please review the HST calculations and ensure that is using the correct HST rate, and make the correction if needed, prior to execution.

Licensees are responsible for ensuring and verifying the accuracy of tax calculations on all forms, regardless of the platform used.

Important Dates Reminder

June 15: Mandatory CPE Courses

Depending on your licence category, licensees must complete their required CPE course(s) on the NSAR Learning Platform before 11:59 pm on June 15, 2025.

All licence categories (salespeople, associate brokers, managing associate brokers and brokers) must complete Revisiting Consumer Relationships.

Associate brokers, managing associate brokers and brokers must also complete a second course: Broker Responsibilities Refresh.

June 30: Online Licensing Renewal Deadline

July 1: By-law and Forms Updates Effective
The Commission By-law will be updated to reflect the revised Parts 1—Definitions, 7—Conduct and Trade Practices and 8—Discipline. Numerous Commission forms will be revised, largely to coincide with the By-law updates.
