The decisions made at the December Board of Directors meeting will result in a number of changes in 2019. The links below will redirect you to the Commission’s website, which provides further detail on each item.

Bylaw
The Board of Directors approved the Bylaw Task Force’s revisions to the bylaws to allow the Audit Guide to come in effect on January 1, 2019.

New & Revised Forms
The Board of Directors approved five new construction forms. In addition, revisions have been made to seven other forms that are currently in circulation.

A news bulletin will be released on January 2, 2019, with a link to all 12 watermarked forms. The official implementation date for all forms will be February 4, 2019.

Early Request of Forms
The early release of the 12 forms, without watermarks, will be provided for administrative purposes only. Struck Clauses
The Commission has received numerous inquiries regarding struck clauses. To eliminate confusion, the Commission has developed a helpful guide that shows compliant methods to strike clauses.

Fee Increase
The Board of Directors has approved a fee increase of $25 for each licensing category. This increase will become effective on January 2, 2019.

CPE Courses open to Administrators
The Licensing Committee would like to remind brokers that unlicensed administrators are welcome to enroll in continuing education courses. Administrators who are designated by the broker to perform trust account record keeping and compile transaction files under the broker’s supervision are encouraged to take the course: A Guide to Real Estate Audits in Nova Scotia. Please contact the NSAR for more information on how to enroll.

Holiday Hours
The Commission's office will be closed from Monday, December 24, 2018, to Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
